Working with the Spirit of Black Hawk

73b129c4294401891554ad0b1a035c3c.jpg

Black Hawk (who was born Ma-ka-tai-me-she-kia-kiak), was a famous Native American war leader from the Sauk tribe in the American Midwest. When Native Americans were being forced off their lands by white American settlers in the early 1800s, Black Hawk led several successful attacks to defend the lands of his tribe.

There is a long history of Spiritualist churches working with Native American Spirits. The spirit of Black Hawk came to Mother Leafy Anderson in the 1920s as her spirit guide and has since contacted many other spiritualists to guide them. (By the way, check out the gorgeous spirit lights around Mother Leafy Anderson in the photo above.)

Black Hawk is particularly attracted to helping those who are fighting social injustice, to protect those who have been oppressed by "the system," and those who have Native American ancestry.

If you would like to work with Black Hawk (or any spirit or deity, for that matter). I recommend that you first ask the spirit if you may work together. If the answer is a yes, you will be given some sort of sign. For those who ask to work with Black Hawk, I have heard many different possibilities of signs - seeing a hawk in the sky, seeing an image of or the word "Hawk," seeing Native American imagery and so on.

If Black Hawk agrees to work with you and you would like his aid and guidance, I recommend the following spell:

Choose a Black Hawk candle of a color that is aligned with your intention (red for love, green for prosperity, white for general blessings).

Inscribe your intention around the base of the candle. Be sure to word your petition in a gracious way that doesn't sound demanding, for example, "Black Hawk please aid me in protecting my loved ones" - that "please" is important. Black Hawk will be more likely to help you if you approach him with the respect and reverence he deserves.

Dress the candle with Spirit Guide oil or Indian Spirit Guide oil and place it on a dish or tray. As you dress the candle, respectfully ask the spirit of Black Hawk to assist you in your worthy cause.

Place five Indian Head Pennies and three whole fruits around the base of the candle; small apples are an excellent choice, as they are regional to the midwest and less likely to go bad while you do this spell.

Thank Black Hawk in advance for his help and sprinkle the candle with Tobacco to assist your connection to him before lighting for your intention.

Burn your candle for three nights, snuffing it out before you go to sleep.

After the candle has burned completely, retrieve the pennies and use them as talismans to keep the spirit of Black Hawk close to you.

Eat the fruit or offer the fruit back to the earth as compost.

Soften the remaining wax with a hairdryer and mold it into a talisman for your altar or bury the wax in your backyard.

Look for signs that Black Hawk is communicating with you and assisting you from the spirit realm.

The Money Miracle Plant

Second Chances and a Magic Spell for Money Miracles

One of the things I love about doing spellwork is the forgiving nature of magic. If you don’t do it right the first time, you always get another go at it. Part of the human condition is making mistakes. If you aren’t making a mistake, it means you’re not trying anything risky. And I believe that if you aren’t taking a risk, you’re living half a life.

With magic, we get chances to change and fix things, anything from little annoyances to huge issues.  So, for example, if you blew out your candle spell when you were meant to snuff it out, no big deal, just get a new candle and start over again. Or, if you messed up in your relationship, you can do a spell to reunite the two of you. Magic is definitely a path of forgiveness and second and even third and fourth chances. Spells give us the gift of a do-over.

One of the magical tools that gives us the chance to start over again is the Rose of Jericho, or the Resurrection Plant.  Just on the level of botany, the Rose of Jericho is a fascinating piece of nature doing things you didn’t think were possible. First thing to get cleared up is the name: the Rose of Jericho is not a rose at all, but a name we give to a group of fern-like plants that grow in some of the harshest climates around, the deserts in Mexico and the Middle East.

When the weather is dry, these amazing plants dry up almost completely, curling up into a brown ball and remaining dormant until the rains come. They can survive in this dried out dormant state for years, but when they are exposed to water, they “resurrect” or come back to life over the course of a few days, opening up and turning green.

Take a look at my video showing how to work with a Rose of Jericho

The way this plant “dies” and then comes back to life is as close as you can get to miraculous and who doesn’t need a little miracle once in awhile?

The Rose of Jericho is a powerful tool in many magical paths for creating prosperity miracles, which is why I call it “The Money Miracle Plant”. It particularly shines in spells where you need to revive or resurrect your prosperity; meaning, you had it once before, things are not so good now but you want to bring that prosperity back again.

Rose of Jericho Prosperity Spell

To do some magical work with a Rose of Jericho, just follow these super-easy steps

  • Place the dried plant with its roots down in a shallow dish of spring water in your home or business on a Friday.

  • You may add talismans to the water dish that invite prosperity, such as gemstones, coins or money-drawing herbs.

  • If you can, place it on a money altar or another special and sacred place.

  • Each day, pour off the water of the plant and add new spring water.

  • Retain the water that you pour off as this is Rose of Jericho water, a powerful prosperity blessing water that you can sprinkle around your home or business or apply to yourself or your loved ones for more prosperity.

  • After a day or two in water the plant will begin to unfold and turn green.

  • As it does, you will see signs of your own prosperity increasing with new opportunities coming your way, more paying customers and increase in your income.

Once your prosperity has increased, give the Rose of Jericho a little rest. Take it out of the water, let it go back to its dormant state.  At this point, you can put it away in a safe place for a little nap. The Rose of Jericho has done its work and your prosperity should remain high. If at any time you feel that you need to give your abundance another boost, you can always pull out that Money Miracle Plant again and miraculously give your prosperity a jumpstart.

Making a Magic Love Mirror

FairyMirror.jpg

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fairest of them all? You are, of course!

There are many spells for mirror magic - everything from reversing spells to Chinese Ba Gua mirrors to mirror gazing to see one's future spouse - but my favorite mirror spell has to be the Magic Love Mirror spell. This spell is a fantastic one for creating the foundation for inviting love into our lives.  It doesn’t matter if you have a relationship and would like to strengthen it or are looking for a new relationship or are not interested in a relationship at all, this spell will create a beautiful foundation of self-love which is the beginning of all healthy relationships.

All mirror spells use the power of the mirror to reflect and bounce back and magnify an intention.  When we use a prepared mirror to reflect love back at ourselves, we are amplifying our ability to receive the love we desire - if you feel worthy, you will be treated well by others.

magicmirror.jpg

First, get a portable mirror of some kind; it can be anything from a hand mirror to a framed mirror, but it should be large enough so that you can see your whole face but not so large that it is difficult to move.

On a night with a waxing moon (after the dark moon but before the full moon), bring your mirror outside and position it so that you see the reflection of the moon in the mirror.

Anoint your mirror with a love oil, such as Bewitching oil, Attraction oil, Follow Me Boy/Girl or Look Me Over oil. Place one spot of oil in each of the four corners and one in the center, in a 5-spot pattern like the 5 on a die.

Let the mirror stay out overnight to absorb the magical moonbeams.

The next day, go out to get your mirror before dawn and cover it with a red or pink cloth. This piece should be something attractive to you and respectful of the magical tool that you are creating, in other words, don't cover it with an old rag.

Repeat this process for three total nights and mornings - so your mirror soaks up the magic of the waxing moon over three consecutive moonlit nights.

On the fourth night, after the sun goes down, instead of taking your mirror outside, unwrap it in a private place inside your home to do your spellwork.

Anoint yourself with a few drops of your love oil, applying from your feet toward your head, and then hold the mirror before you and look into your own eyes. Instead of looking with a critical mind (“Is that a pimple?” “Look at those wrinkles.”) look at yourself with eyes of love.  After a few moments, and while still looking into your own eyes, say “I love you!” to you reflection.

Repeat "I love you" about 10-20 times and then wrap the mirror up and put it away.

The next night, take out the mirror and repeat.

Do this every day for 28 days (a full lunar cycle) and you will see a dramatic turn around for the good in all your relationships, including the most important one of all - the relationship you have with yourself.

Teas as Magical Potions

Join Me in a Cup of (Magical) Tea?

Everyone knows that tea leaf reading is a magical act of divination but did you know that drinking teas themselves can be a great way to do magic? Yes, teas are really the magic potions we read about in fairy tales!

Tea leaves and certain herbs have been recognized for their magical, as well as medicinal, qualities throughout the ages and can be made into teas or tisanes (herbal infusions) to bring in improved conditions.

The difference between your regular cuppa and a tea spell is in the intention. Putting thought, words and will into your tea can make it a magical potion that will transform your life!

Here are my steps to making a truly magical potion out of your tea

  • First, I put fresh spring water into a kettle or saucepan.
  • Next, while I'm waiting for the water to boil, I concentrate on the intention of my spell.

  • While I'm waiting for the water to boil (and focusing on my spell), I put my herbs in a tea pot or infuser.

  • Next, I pour the boiling water into the teapot or the cup with the infuser. As I do, I ask the herbs to do their work and say these words with loving conviction. For example, with a mint tea I would say something like, "Mint, clear away my blocks to prosperity and protect my money."

  • I hold my hands in the steam over the cup or teapot and focus my intention on my spell. I then let the herbs steep for a magical number of minutes: 3, 5, 7, 9, 13 or 21

  • Finally, I pour the tea or tisane into my cup or pull the infuser out of my cup. As I let the infusion cool a little, I often talk to the herbs, having a little "conversation," telling the story of what the brew will do for me. For example, I might say something like, "Mint, when you work for me, you will help me to find the money to pay for my bills and have some extra money for fun. You will help open my flow of prosperity and bring good opportunities to me so that I can be more abundant. You'll protect what I have so that I don't lose money to broken equipment or unexpected expenses." I will let this monologue go on for several minutes, telling the herb all the ways that it will help me.

  • By the time I've finished the conversation, the tea/tisane will have cooled to the point that I can drink it. It has been imbued with all the words of intention, all the thoughts and all my will. This is truly a magic potion.

  • At this point, the infusion is ready. I close my eyes and, sip by sip, I drink it all in and feel the power of the magic permeating my body.

There Are Many Magical Herbs That Can Be Made into Teas and Tisanes

While most people are familiar with mint tea or chamomile tea (and both of these are powerfully magical herbs) there are so many more herbs that can be made into magical potions!

Just a warning, some of them taste amazing and some of them... not so much. You can always add a sweetener (and honey itself has it's own magical qualities) but don't be afraid of drinking something a little bitter. After all, a truly magical potion might require you to have courage!

While these herbs are safe for most people, it's common sense that if you are pregnant or have a medical condition to consult with a medical practitioner and do your research before ingesting anything.

If you are looking for a place to purchase these herbs or would like some detailed information in how to use them magically, click on the name of the herb and it will take you directly to the specific herb on the parlourofwonders.com website.

Advanced Tea and Tisane Spells

The beautiful thing about teas and tisanes are that they can be easily blended.

When you are just starting out making these magical potions, you may just want to focus on one herb for your brew, but as you get more experienced, you may want to blend herbs for combined intentions.

When you brew a blend of more than one herb, speak to each of the herbs that you are working with individually and ask them to do their special work.

You may choose any number of herbs to blend but, if you like, you might choose a magical number of herbs: 3, 5, 7 or 9

These are just a few examples of blends that work well together but let your intuition and creativity guide you.

Basil, Cacao Beans and Clove - for happy new friendships

Sarasaparilla, Hyssop and Eucalyptus - for profound spiritual healing

Spikenard, Yarrow and Rose Petals - for a romantic and committed love

Chamomile, Sassafras and Alfalfa - for powerful prosperity and good money luck

What Are Your Tea and Tisane Spells?

This list of herbs is by no means exhaustive and really only scratches the surface of the magic of using teas as magical potions.

If you have any comments about this post or if you have any special herbs or magical herb tea recipes that you would like to share, please post them below in the comments - I would love to hear them!

Charging a Lucky Talisman with Incense

Incense is an incredible and often overlooked tool for making some really powerful magic - either as a support tool when doing other magic spells, or as the focus of the spell itself. One of the beautiful things that you can do with incense is use it to cleanse, charge or empower ritual tools and objects. For example, if you have a tarot deck, you can pass it through incense smoke to cleanse it or charge it, something that is especially useful because traditional cleansing with liquids would harm the cards.

One of my favorite things to do with incense is to consecrate, bless and charge lucky talismans. I do this all the time with jewelry and small objects that I can carry on me when I need that dose of luck.  Luck isn't just for gamblers either - being lucky means being in the right place at the right time and having opportunities open for us easily. So all of us could use a lucky talisman anytime - and here's a spell to make your own.

Making a Good Luck Talisman with Incense

Here's a simple spell for ritually creating a lucky talisman (or amping up the luck of an existing talisman)

What you will need:

- Cone Incense for Luck (I Got Mine Cone Incense or Easy Winners Incense are superb for this work)
- A small heat proof dish or incense holder
- Matches or lighter
- A talisman that you wish to charge (can be a lucky coin, rabbit's foot, gemstone, jewelry or anything that can be easily carried or worn)

Light the tip of the incense cone and place it on the heat-proof dish.  After several seconds, blow out the flame and let the fragrant smoke rise up from the incense cone.

Hold your talisman in both hands. Say a prayer or intention for how your would like to charge your talisman. For example say, "May this ring bring me luck in love" or "Spirit, bless this rabbit's foot so that I attract lucky opportunities"

Visualize the luck effect that you would like to see. As you do, wave the talisman through the smoke several times, being sure that the smoke touches all sides.

You talisman is now charged with your prayer or intention. Carry it with you anytime you would like to give yourself extra luck.

Let the incense burn completely and imbue your space with extra lucky energy. So simple and yet so effective!

What Does It Mean When I See 11:11?

Spirit Guide Messages Through Repeating Numbers

One of the most common ways that our spirit guides reach out to us is through sending us numbers - digital clocks have really become such an amazing tool in this sense because they are all around us. if you are seeing repeating numbers on your digital clock like 11:11, 2:22, 5:55, 1:11 and so on, or you are seeing these repeating numbers elsewhere, such as on license plates, addresses and so on,  it means that your spirit guides are trying to connect with you.

I think of these as being something like spirits knocking at our door. The first thing I do when I notice one of these repeating numbers is reflect on what my focus was on at the time that I saw it - Was I daydreaming in a positive way about the future or was I worrying about something - was I having a good memory from the past or was I focused on just what was in front of me right now. Whatever I was thinking about, my guides have a message for me about that topic.

Now, since I have been working for a long time on building communication with my guides, they usually tell me right then and there what they need to tell me “Yes, you’re going to be ok” “Let it go” “Do it” or whatever. but if you’re just starting to get connected to your guides and you see a repeating number, take a moment to reflect on what was on your mind at that moment and then just try to “listen” to what they have to say about it - if you don’t “hear” anything right away - don’t fret - your guides may just be knocking on your door to let you know that they are supporting you in whatever it was that you were thinking about.

The number itself has significance - If you study some basic numerology, you will know what the numbers mean and you can then interpret that in light of what you were thinking about. For example, if you were thinking about someone that you were interested in and you saw 3:33 on the clock, 333 indicates that there are angels surrounding you and this person and that angels want to help you. Don’t worry if you’re not an expert in numerology though, below is a handy chart for understanding the messages behind different repeating numbers. Download it for future reference when you see these magical repeating numbers.

Magic for Meeting a New Love (or New Friends)

Together the spellwork and the action will open up multiple opportunities for you and your true love to cross paths. Remember that when you are both intentional and out in the world to receive those intentions, you give the Universe more opportunities to bring you amazing synchronicities.

The following list below is a great resource for you to brainstorm activities that sound appealing to you but also open up opportunities to meet new people.
